About lisa & tony
lisa and tony met at
a 'no woodchipping' rally, got married at a blockade and had their honeymoon up
a tree sit. They now blissfully reside in the forests of
Womban.
Lisa was in the seminal Sydney band 'Repeat Offenders'. She has played with Rory
McLeod, Kev Carmody, Shane Howard, Joe Geia, and jammed with The Tiddahs, Wire
MC, Ohms not Bombs, Penelope Swales, Veren Grigorov (Fourplay, Arabesk), Jody
from Dirty Lucy, Mixed Relations, Charlie McMahon (Gondwanaland), Greg Sheehan (Coolangubra),
Janie Conway, JigZag & heaps more. She has played in The Eggs, Spark and
Sporran. She has played venues such as The Phonecian Club, The Annandale, The
Sando and The Espy. Lisa also presents the indigenous radio show on Wed mornings
on local community radio 2EAR FM and co-hosts a show on Fri nights.
Tony is well known as a poet and forest activist. Tony also plays Celtic Harp,
ukulele & debuts his 'crash' talents on Welcome.
On their long awaited debut CD ‘INSURGENCY IS THE MOTHER OF DETENTION’ Rory
McLeod lets his trombone loose and Damon Davies’ mouth trumpet is a moment of
pure genius.
Lisa attributes their success to date to Stompy, the third member of the band.
“It’s really Stompy who does all the work, he doesn’t argue, doesn’t eat much
and doesn’t want paying – he is truly altruistic”, she said.
“I do it for the
love of it…and the sex”, said Stompy.
A thought for the day –
“Songs are born in stillness – when all endeavour to think of beautiful things.
Then they take shape in the mind and rise up like bubbles, bubbles from the
depths of the sea, bubbles seeking the air – to burst.” An Alaskan Elder.
“…a bit like a fart in a bath.” Lisa Stone
